It depends on what car you have. OBD1 cars only have 1 O2 sensor. OBD2 cars have a primary and secondary O2. I personally wouldn't cheap out on the O2. Just go to www.hondaautomotiveparts.com and bite the bullet and order whatever you need. I just replaced my primary and it was around $185 bucks!

Are you looking for a sensor for a wideband controller or are you just replacing a bad one on your car? Most o2 sensors are pretty much the same and have negligible differences, when comparing wideband to wideband and narrow to narrow.. If you're on a budget, just get a universal Bosch unit from AutoZone or Advance and wire it up yourself. Takes about 10 extra minutes and will save you about $100. It's super easy to do if you just take your time and read the instructions. Otherwise you can get a sensor that just clips in from hondaautomotiveparts or from the parts store for about 30-40 bucks less.

Like Preludedriver99 said, obd2 cars, 95 or 96, I can't remember on the Prelude, uses two sensors. The first one is before the cat and is what the engine uses to measure oxygen content of the engine to adjust the air/fuel ratio. The second sensor is after the cat and is only used to determine if the cat is working correctly. The two sensors are not interchangeable either.

i have a 2000 prelude type sh.... and yea i have to replace my current sensor.... that's what my mechanic ssays anyway (who happens to be one of me best friends so he wouldn't bullshit me)

money's not really an option, i'm not the donald or anything... but i don't mind buying quality parts.... what's wideband mean?? i mean i've got a couple of mods.... catback exhaust, intake, headers, denso iridium plugs so does that mean i can go for "performance" O2 sensor?

i'm prolly making way too much of this but i just wanna make sure i'm getting the full potential of performance out my lude that's all....

What's the deal with 5th gen and O2 sensors, I mean these cars are still relatively new but I've heard of so many people needing to replace theirs. Is this normal or do I just pay too much attention to this problem because I got it myself.

Also I went to autozone to do a free diagnostic test and they said one of my O2 is bad but couldn't tell with one, primary or secondary, but he said it's usually the first (primary) one. You guys think he's right because I don't want to buy this for no reason, it's spendy as hell.

I am kinda wondering the same thing. I have 41k on my car, and I'm getting a CEL 61. I am wondering if it has anything to do with my aftermarket header, even though im about 99% sure it wasn't damaged during installation or anything like that. *sigh*

Normally your O2 will get lazy after so much use. I'd say 50,000 to 75,000 miles and you'd probably benefit from putting a new one in at the pump. Some have over 150,000 miles on their O2's and never have a problem. A lot of it has to do with modifications on the car. You don't tend to see people that use their lude for just a nice everday driver with no mods complaining to often!

What did you mean by "a new one at the pump"???

Can you explain a little more.
